The article is devoted to the role of self-management in the preparation of Ph. D. based on the standards of the Ministry of Education and Science, which are aimed at the formation of a systematic scientific worldview and a common cultural outlook among future scientists. The necessity of being able to operate with medical and philosophical doctrines and master the art of thinking is considered. Using self-management, scientists can familiarize themselves with eastern and western teachings without idealizing one and demonizing other. Attention is paid to the difference between the Western (European) and Eastern (Chinese, Indian) ways of thinking. Western thinking is prone to dichotomy, statics, separation, linearity, etc. Eastern thinking is a holistic approach, not a separation of the whole, not a contrast, based on the law of self-organization of the whole, the unity of the different, single-united, intermittentlycontinuous. The whole has properties that are not inherent in parts. There are two types of knowledge reflected in the East: omniscience — holistic, undifferentiated (continuous thinking) and conditionally symbolic knowledge, which allows separation into a subject and an object (discrete thinking). Truth is accessible only to holistic thinking, and the sign one — is training of the mind. The fundamental concepts of “Tao”, “truth”, “wisdom”, the law of Middle or dynamic equilibrium in the presentation of Chinese sages, as well as the reasons for the different attitude to the concepts of truth, word and silence, chaos and the Heavenly order of the Western and Eastern worlds are briefly examined. Attention is paid to a systematic approach in medical science. It is recommended specific directions for inclusion in personal self-management programs (and coaching), which can expand the capabilities of any scientist.
