Medical professionals, at the current stage of development of the industry in Ukraine, must meet the high criteria of competence and qualification, since in the conditions of market economy and reform of medicine it is a guarantee of quality employment.

The motivation of students and the use of the latest pedagogical technologies are not always sufficient factors for the successful preparation of future doctors, so the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology pays special attention to the organization and control of the quality of knowledge assessment.

The purpose of our work was to summarize and systematize the measures for the generalize and quality control of knowledge assessment in order to improve the students’ success and the work of the teaching staff of the department. According to the provisions on the organization of the educational process at TNMU and on the basis of credit transfer-accumulation system at the department, work study programs were developed for each category of students, according to which the quality of assessment of knowledge of students of all faculties is conducted. Practical classes are conducted in accordance with a pre-approved plan and the assessment of students ‘knowledge at each lesson includes:
entrance level of students’ knowledge, practical work, participation in oral interviews, final control of knowledge. Given that each student is assessed at each class, this encourages them to systematically prepare and repeat the material, resulting in improved efficiency of learning, students use analytical thinking in the analysis of specific topics and better understand the need for knowledge in microbiology and virology for virology practical activity of the doctor.
